| 1 | | SENATE RESOLUTION
| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | 3 | | to learn of the death of Jim Vinicky, who passed away on March | 4 | | 5, 2023; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Jim Vinicky grew up in La Grange and raised his | 6 | | family in La Grange Highlands; and
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Jim Vinicky was an electrical supply salesman | 8 | | whose territory included the City of Chicago and the suburbs; | 9 | | and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Jim Vinicky was known as a "foodie" before the | 11 | | term existed, and he prided himself on knowing every | 12 | | mom-and-pop eatery worth visiting; he was noted for his | 13 | | ability to provide information on multiple restaurant options | 14 | | in any neighborhood in Chicago or the suburbs to friends and | 15 | | family, and a few of his favorite eateries included Stacy's | 16 | | Cafe in Bellwood, El Faro in Summit, and Great Wall in Western | 17 | | Springs; and
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Jim Vinicky regularly vacationed with his wife in | 19 | | Door County, Wisconsin, where he was a frequent visitor of the | 20 | | supper club scene; he especially enjoyed visiting the | 21 | | Greenwood Supper Club in Fish Creek; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Jim Vinicky had many interests; he was an ardent | 2 | | fan of the Chicago White Sox; he enjoyed reading the Chicago | 3 | | Sun-Times and bowling, with a high score of 279; he loved | 4 | | animals, and he once brought home a dog that he found hiding | 5 | | under his car while he was on the North Side, naming the dog | 6 | | after his car, Lincoln; and
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Jim Vinicky was devoted to his family and | 8 | | supportive of his children's aspirations; he served as the | 9 | | family's perennial, and successfully anonymous, Santa Claus on | 10 | | Christmas Eve; he relished swimming with his children and | 11 | | grandchildren, despite being a non-swimmer; he was the king of | 12 | | dad jokes; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Jim Vinicky will be remembered for his | 14 | | fun-loving, kind, and altruistic nature; and
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Jim Vinicky is survived by his wife, Sue; his | 16 | | children, Jimmy Vinicky Jr. and Amanda Vinicky; his | 17 | | daughter-in-law, Blakeley; and his two grandchildren; | 18 | | therefore, be it
| 19 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL | 20 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 21 | | Jim Vinicky and extend our sincere condolences to his family, |
