| SENATE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 |
| learn of the death of James M. Hurst of Peru, who passed away | 4 |
| on March 16, 2009; and
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, He was born on July 2, 1937 in Springfield, the | 6 |
| son of Arthur and Regina (Rademacher) Hurst; he married Betty | 7 |
| Lushina on May 17, 1958; and
| 8 |
| WHEREAS, He graduated from St. Bede Academy, St. John's | 9 |
| College in Minnesota, and was a 1956 graduate of Worsham | 10 |
| College of Mortuary Science; and
| 11 |
| WHEREAS, He was a second generation funeral director of | 12 |
| Hurst Funeral Home in LaSalle-Peru, Ladd, Tonica, and Wenona; | 13 |
| and
| 14 |
| WHEREAS, He was a member of St. Patrick Church, | 15 |
| LaSalle-Peru Kiwanis, the Knights of Columbus, the Ladd Moose, | 16 |
| the Ladd Business Association, the Illinois and National | 17 |
| Funeral Director Association, and St. Vincent's Cemetery | 18 |
| Board; he served on the Lighted Way Board for 36 years, the | 19 |
| Illinois Valley Community Hospital Board for more than 10 | 20 |
| years, and the Horizon House Board; and he was a founding | 21 |
| member of Illinois Valley Hospice and instrumental in starting |

| the LaSalle 911 system; and
| 2 |
| WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents and one | 3 |
| brother; and | 4 |
| WHEREAS, James Hurst is survived by his wife, Betty; his | 5 |
| sons, Jim (Kathy) Hurst and John (Niki) Hurst; his daughters, | 6 |
| Lori (Dave) Milus and Jolene (Tim) Plankenhorn; his fifteen | 7 |
| grandchildren; his three great-grandchildren; his brother, | 8 |
| Richard (Mary) Hurst; and his sister, Mary Ann Erickson; | 9 |
| therefore, be it
| 10 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL | 11 |
| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | 12 |
| his family and friends, the passing of James Hurst; and be it | 13 |
| further
| 14 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 15 |
| presented to the family of James Hurst as a symbol of our | 16 |
| sincere sympathy.
