| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Chris R. Stevens, a 50-year resident of | 4 | | Lake Forest, who passed away on December 28, 2016 at the age of | 5 | | 67; and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Chris Stevens was born in Evanston; she attended | 7 | | elementary schools at Saints Faith, Hope & Charity in Winnetka, | 8 | | and the School of St. Mary in Lake Forest; she graduated from | 9 | | Lake Forest High School in 1967, and Barat College in 1971 with | 10 | | a degree in sociology; she had the opportunity to spend her | 11 | | junior year of high school in South Korea, where she made many | 12 | | friendships that have lasted through the years and where she | 13 | | was also a cheerleader for EASCOM; and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Following graduation, Chris Stevens began a long | 15 | | and fulfilling career of service with Lake County CETA/Private | 16 | | Industry Council leading to her role as Director for Job | 17 | | Placement and Training; her care and concern for the well-being | 18 | | of others was also shared through years of volunteer efforts | 19 | | with United Way of Lake County where she served as Treasurer; | 20 | | and
| 21 | | WHEREAS, Chris Stevens was known for her outstanding | 22 | | cooking skills and the beautiful results of her gardening; she |

| 1 | | spent summers boating on Lake Michigan where she could kick | 2 | | back and read or catch up with friends; her love of water took | 3 | | her scuba diving and fishing in the Florida Keys; one of her | 4 | | prize catches was a 54 inch 45 pound Barracuda; her ultimate | 5 | | love was time spent with family but most especially the deep | 6 | | love she shared with her husband, Scott, and their son, Paul; | 7 | | her laughter, sense of fun, concern for others, and honesty | 8 | | will be sorely missed; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Chris Stevens was preceded in death by her | 10 | | parents, Paul and Madelyn Reitz; and her father-in-law, John | 11 | | Stevens; and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Chris Stevens is survived by her husband of over | 13 | | 43 years, Scott Stevens; her son, Paul (Tara) Stevens; her | 14 | | grandchildren, Jake and Parker Stevens; her sisters Debbie and | 15 | | Diane Reitz; her mother-in-law, Bev Stevens; her | 16 | | sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Peggy Hendershot, Mike | 17 | | Stevens, Lyn (Curt) Drathring, and Ole (Sonya) Stevens; and | 18 | | many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
| 19 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | 20 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her | 21 | | family and friends, mourn the passing of Chris R. Stevens, and | 22 | | extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all | 23 | | who knew and loved her; and be it further
