| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Captain | 4 | | Jake Ringering of Godfrey, who passed away in the line of duty | 5 | | on March 5, 2019; and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Captain Ringering was born in Alton on December | 7 | | 14, 1981; he was the son of Robin (Ballard) Disney and her | 8 | | husband, Reverend Stephen Disney, and Larry Ringering and his | 9 | | wife, Jan; he graduated from East Alton Wood River High School | 10 | | in 2000; he earned an associate's degree in fire science from | 11 | | Lewis & Clark Community College in 2004; he also earned his | 12 | | Emergency Medical Technician License; he married Allison Budde | 13 | | at St. Mary's Catholic Church on January 3, 2009; and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Captain Ringering began his career as a paid, | 15 | | on-call firefighter in East Alton on February 20, 2001; he was | 16 | | hired as a career firefighter in East Alton on December 20, | 17 | | 2005; on August 5, 2010, he was hired as a career firefighter | 18 | | at Godfrey Fire Protection District, where he attained the rank | 19 | | of lieutenant on March 27, 2013 and Captain on May 1, 2014; he | 20 | | also served as a lead instructor for the department, the | 21 | | technical rescue officer, and the respiratory protection | 22 | | officer; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Captain Ringering earned several certifications | 2 | | from the Illinois Office of the State Fire Marshal, including | 3 | | Firefighter II, Firefighter III, Basic Operations Firefighter, | 4 | | Advanced Technician Firefighter, Fire Officer I, Hazardous | 5 | | Materials Awareness, Technical Rescue Awareness, Fire Service | 6 | | Vehicle Operator, Fire Apparatus Engineer, Vehicle and | 7 | | Machinery Operations, Rescue Specialist-Confined Space, | 8 | | Hazardous Materials First Responder Operations, Rope | 9 | | Operations, Fire Service Instructor I, Fire Service Instructor | 10 | | II, Fire Investigator, and Rescue Specialist-Vertical II/High | 11 | | Angle; and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Captain Ringering was dedicated to public | 13 | | service; a leader who always wanted to help others, he served | 14 | | as president of the Godfrey Firefighters Local 1692 and taught | 15 | | Fire Science at Lewis & Clark Community College; he was also a | 16 | | trainer and instructor through Max Fire Training; he was a | 17 | | member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alton; he was a devoted | 18 | | husband and father and always put his family first; he was a | 19 | | loving son, brother, and son-in-law who never met a stranger; | 20 | | and
| 21 | | WHEREAS, Captain Ringering was preceded in death by his | 22 | | grandparents, Lucien and Marjorie Ringering and Captain Ed | 23 | | Ballard; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Captain Ringering is survived by his parents; his | 2 | | wife, Allison; his children, Nora Marie Ringering, Elaina Lynn | 3 | | Ringering, and Logan Jacob Ringering; his brother, Chris | 4 | | (Richel) Stratton; his sister, Julie (Jedediah) Downs; his | 5 | | grandmother, Thelma Ballard; his wife's parents, Robert and | 6 | | Susan Budde; his sister-in-law, Andrea Budde; his | 7 | | brother-in-law, Andrew Budde; his nieces and nephews, Jaden, | 8 | | Jerald, Jolene, and Jacqueline Downs, Landon and Levi Stratton, | 9 | | and Jackson Budde; and his many aunts, uncles, and cousins; | 10 | | therefore, be it
| 11 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | 12 | | HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | 13 | | we mourn the passing of Captain Jake Ringering and extend our | 14 | | sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew | 15 | | and loved him; and be it further
| 16 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 17 | | presented to the family of Captain Ringering as an expression | 18 | | of our deepest sympathy.
