| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Thomas Spurgeon of Bethalto, who passed | 4 | | away on February 8, 2017; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Thomas Spurgeon was born in Alton to Joseph H. and | 6 | | Theresa C. (Balke) Spurgeon on February 2, 1940; he married | 7 | | Linda Sue Tarrant in Rosewood Heights on December 1, 1962; and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Thomas Spurgeon was a Knights of Columbus | 9 | | insurance agent for 35 years prior to his retirement in 2010; | 10 | | and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Thomas Spurgeon was a member of Our Lady Queen of | 12 | | Peace Catholic Church in Bethalto, and a past member of St. | 13 | | Kevin Catholic Church for 40 years; and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Thomas Spurgeon was preceded in death by his | 15 | | parents and his siblings, Joe Spurgeon, John Spurgeon, Joseph | 16 | | Spurgeon, Helen Claxton, Emma Jean Auten, and Leona Hohnsbehn; | 17 | | and | 18 | | WHEREAS, Thomas Spurgeon is survived by his wife, Linda; | 19 | | his children, April (Jeff) Myers, and Thomas (Becky) Spurgeon; | 20 | | his grandchildren, Brian (Sarah) Kalkbrenner, Andrew (Gabe) |
