| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Helen Cornwell of Georgetown, who passed | 4 | | away on February 28, 2019; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Helen Cornwell was born in Catlin to Frank and | 6 | | Lucy (Chop) Kovack on September 18, 1924; she graduated from | 7 | | Georgetown High School; she married Homer "Junie" Cornwell in | 8 | | Georgetown on May 10, 1947; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Helen Cornwell worked at the Vermilion County | 10 | | Courthouse in the Circuit Clerk's office and the County Clerk's | 11 | | office for over 20 years; she became Vermilion County Auditor | 12 | | in 1976 and served for 12 years; one of the highlights of her | 13 | | political career was attending the Democratic National | 14 | | Convention in Atlanta, Georgia in 1988 as a representative of | 15 | | Illinois; and
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Helen Cornwell was an active member of the | 17 | | community; she was a member of the Vermilion County Democrats | 18 | | and the Danville Business and Professional Women (BPW); she | 19 | | also served on the Georgetown Township Board and the Vermilion | 20 | | County Housing Board; she was a member of St. Isaac Jogues | 21 | | Church in Georgetown and the Altar & Rosary Society; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Helen Cornwell was preceded in death by her | 2 | | parents; her husband, Homer; and her brothers, Frank and Joseph | 3 | | Kovack; and
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Helen Cornwell is survived by her daughter, Kathy | 5 | | Galyen; her son, Gregory (Lynn) Cornwell; her brother, Robert | 6 | | (Ruby Ann) Kovack; her grandchildren, Derek (JoAnne) Galyen, | 7 | | Kurtis Galyen, Justin (April) Cornwell, Adam Cornwell, and | 8 | | Aaron Cornwell; her great-grandchildren, Jasmine, Grayson, | 9 | | Vivian, and Everett; therefore, be it
| 10 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | 11 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 12 | | Helen Cornwell and extend our sincere condolences to her | 13 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it | 14 | | further
| 15 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 16 | | presented to the family of Helen Cornwell as an expression of | 17 | | our deepest sympathy.
