| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of former Harvard Mayor and community | 4 | | leader, Frank Godo, who passed away on January 23, 2017 at the | 5 | | age of 80; and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Frank Godo was born in Universal, Indiana to | 7 | | Michael and Mary (Sandor) Godo on November 1, 1936; in 1952, | 8 | | along with his mother and his sister, Julie, he moved to | 9 | | Harvard where he graduated from high school; he was stationed | 10 | | in Germany from 1960 to 1963 as a member of the United States | 11 | | Army 181st Battalion; he married Ruth Ann Mulvenna at the First | 12 | | Presbyterian Church in Harvard on May 25, 1968; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Frank Godo was elected to the first of two | 14 | | consecutive terms as Alderman on the Harvard City Council in | 15 | | 1973, and was elected Mayor of Harvard in 1981; upon completing | 16 | | two successful terms presiding over the city council, he took | 17 | | on a venture in the McHenry County judicial system and later | 18 | | became the Secretary of State driver's license facility manager | 19 | | in Woodstock, a post from which he retired after more than 20 | 20 | | cumulative years of service; and
| 21 | | WHEREAS, Frank Godo was a member of the Harvard Rescue | 22 | | Squad for 19 years and was active in the Harvard Boys League |

| 2 | | WHEREAS, Frank Godo was preceded in death by his parents; | 3 | | and six siblings, Barb, Julie, Mary, George, Johnny, and Mike; | 4 | | and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Frank Godo is survived by his wife, Ruth; his | 6 | | children, James (Deborah) Godo, and Melinda Marie Godo; two | 7 | | grandchildren, Elizabeth Marie and Catherine Daly Godo; one | 8 | | sister, Ann Roskovensky; and the family dog, Missy; therefore, | 9 | | be it
| 10 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | 11 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 12 | | Frank Godo, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, | 13 | | friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further
| 14 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 15 | | presented to the family of Frank Godo as an expression of our | 16 | | deepest sympathy.
