| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Deputy Jacob Howard Keltner of Crystal | 4 | | Lake, who passed away on March 7, 2019; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Deputy Keltner was born to Howard and Helen | 6 | | Keltner; he graduated from Western Illinois University with a | 7 | | degree in Spanish and a minor in law enforcement and justice | 8 | | administration; he married Rebecca Lee Cranston on August 10, | 9 | | 2007; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Deputy Keltner knew he wanted to be a police | 11 | | officer from a young age; he started in a civilian position | 12 | | with the DuPage County Sheriff's Department and soon joined the | 13 | | McHenry County Sheriff's Department, where he worked patrol; he | 14 | | then moved into investigations as a detective; he worked for | 15 | | seven years in narcotics while assigned to the United States | 16 | | Drug Enforcement Administration-Rockford Office Group #39; for | 17 | | the last five years he was assigned to the United States | 18 | | Marshal Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force; and
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Deputy Keltner enjoyed working out, biking, and | 20 | | swimming with his boys during the summer; he was an avid fan of | 21 | | the Chicago Cubs; he was a prankster and had a contagious laugh | 22 | | and could talk to anyone he met; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Deputy Keltner was preceded in death by his | 2 | | mother-in-law, Pam Cranston; his sister, Sara; his | 3 | | grandparents, Robert and Patricia Keltner; his grandfather, | 4 | | Eugene J. "Sy" Sekowski; and his aunt, Patricia Hernbroth; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Deputy Keltner is survived by his wife, Becki; his | 6 | | sons, Caleb and Carson; his parents; his brothers, Zachary | 7 | | (Latasha) and Lucas (Christine) Keltner; his grandmother, | 8 | | Theresa Sekowski; his father-in-law, Don Cranston; his | 9 | | sisters-in-law, Amy (Ryan Hoven) Cranston and Holly (Tirso) | 10 | | Castro Rodriquez; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, | 11 | | and cousins; therefore, be it
| 12 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | 13 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 14 | | Deputy Jacob Howard Keltner and extend our sincere condolences | 15 | | to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be | 16 | | it further
