| SENATE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 |
| learn of the death of
Dorothy Hunter, who passed away on April | 4 |
| 2, 2009; and
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Dorothy Hunter was born on March 16, 1929; her | 6 |
| parents were Eunice Lacy and Wallace Dandridge; she also had | 7 |
| another father, Fred Gatlin, who later married her mother; she | 8 |
| married Marvin Jerome Hunter on October 9, 1945; and
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, Dorothy Hunter completed elementary school and | 10 |
| high school in Memphis, Tennessee; she later moved to Chicago; | 11 |
| in 1953, she joined the Fellowship M.B. Church under the | 12 |
| leadership of Reverend Clay Evans; she then returned to | 13 |
| Memphis, where she stayed until she fell ill and returned to | 14 |
| Chicago, staying there until her passing; and
| 15 |
| WHEREAS, Dorothy Hunter was preceded in death by her | 16 |
| parents; her husband; her children, Elaine (Hunter) Malcome and | 17 |
| Maurice Hunter; her grandson, Randall Malcome; and her | 18 |
| great-grandson, Andre (Mann) Greene; and
| 19 |
| WHEREAS, Dorothy Hunter is survived by her sons, Earl | 20 |
| Jerome Dandridge, Marvin Jerome Hunter, and Greg Hunter; her | 21 |
| daughters, Anita (Hunter) Barber and Vickie Lynn Jones; her 16 |

| grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; and her many other | 2 |
| relatives and friends; therefore, be it
| 3 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL | 4 |
| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | 5 |
| her family and friends, the passing of Dorothy Hunter; and be | 6 |
| it further
| 7 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 8 |
| presented to the family of Dorothy Hunter as an expression of | 9 |
| our sympathy.
