1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of
3 Illinois were deeply saddened to learn of the death of
4 Seymour Ronen of Northbrook on Wednesday, September 3, 2003;
5 and
6 WHEREAS, Mr. Ronen was born in Chicago to Ben and Jenny
7 Ronen; he grew up on the West Side, where his father had a
8 small Royal Blue grocery store; he graduated from Crane
9 Technical High School; and
10 WHEREAS, Mr. Ronen valiantly served his country in the
11 U.S. Army as a member of the Signal Corps in the Philippines
12 and New Guinea; and
13 WHEREAS, Mr. Ronen married Cecile Silverman in 1943 in a
14 ceremony at Fort Crowder, Missouri; and
15 WHEREAS, Mr. Ronen began his career selling table pads;
16 he went on to work for Triangle Products, where he rose to
17 become general manager of the company; he started his own
18 company, Ronen Products, in Elkhart, Indiana, the national
19 center of the mobile home industry; and
20 WHEREAS, Mr. Ronen enjoyed playing golf and was an avid
21 follower of the Cubs; he will be remembered for his sense of
22 humor and strong ethical sense; and
23 WHEREAS, The passing of Seymour Ronen has been deeply
24 felt by many, especially his wife, Cecile; his daughters,
25 State Senator Carol Ronen and Rozanne Ronen; his grandson,
26 Cory Verblen; his son-in-law, Tom Mohorek; his sister, Bess
27 (the late Milton) Cohen; and his many sisters-in-law,
28 cousins, nieces, and nephews; therefore, be it
29 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL
30 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing

1 of Mr. Seymour Ronen, and we extend our sincerest condolences
2 to his friends, family, and all who knew and loved him; and
3 be it further
4 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
5 presented to the family of Seymour Ronen as an expression of
6 our deepest sympathy during their time of bereavement.
