| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Charles F. "Chuck" Benes of McHenry, who | 4 | | passed away on February 16, 2017; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Charles Benes was born in Cicero to James and | 6 | | Bessie (Krapalek) Benes on October 2, 1924; he married Lillian | 7 | | C. Winter in Chicago on October 7, 1950; and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Charles Benes purchased Benes & Son, a fruit and | 9 | | vegetable store, from his father and operated it for several | 10 | | years; in his late 30s, he joined the United States Postal | 11 | | Service as a letter carrier working in the Austin District in | 12 | | Chicago; he moved his family to McHenry in 1965 and later | 13 | | transferred to the Crystal Lake Post Office; and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Charles Benes was a loyal and devoted fan of the | 15 | | Chicago Cubs, Blackhawks, and Bears; he enjoyed woodworking and | 16 | | fishing; and
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Charles Benes was preceded in death by his | 18 | | sister-in-law, Mary Benes; and
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Charles Benes is survived by his wife of 66 years, | 20 | | Lillian; his children, Steven (Eloise) Benes, and Debra |

| 5 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | 6 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 7 | | Charles F. "Chuck" Benes of McHenry, and extend our sincere | 8 | | condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved | 9 | | him; and be it further
