| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Thomas E. Abel of Rock Island, who passed | 4 | | away on March 5, 2017; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Thomas Abel was born in Davenport to Charles and | 6 | | Roberta Terry Abel on January 9, 1935; he received his | 7 | | education in Mooseheart; he was a Staff Sergeant in the United | 8 | | States Marine Corps, retiring in 1959, and was in the Reserve | 9 | | until 1974; he married Marilyn Vick on February 9, 1972; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Thomas Abel was a machine tool operator at the | 11 | | Rock Island Arsenal, retiring in 1990; he was a member of the | 12 | | Rock Island Moose Lodge, the Knights of Columbus, and St. Pius | 13 | | X Catholic Church; he was a volunteer at UPH-Trinity Hospital | 14 | | and he enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, | 15 | | and great-grandchildren; and
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Thomas Abel was preceded in death by his parents; | 17 | | and
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Thomas Abel is survived by his wife, Marilyn Abel; | 19 | | his children, Cheryl Weybright, Patricia (Ken) Swank, and | 20 | | Timothy Vick; his grandchildren, Jessica (Paul) Stubbs, Angela | 21 | | Swank, Thomas (Lisa) Weybright, Michael (Brieana) Weybright, |
