| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | 3 | | to learn of the death of Mikel Jay "Mike" Cannon of Oakwood, | 4 | | who passed away on May 9, 2021; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Mike Cannon was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan to | 6 | | Leland and Dorothy (Seymour) Cannon on February 1, 1943; he | 7 | | married Mary Kay Dodson in Danville on September 14, 1963; and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Mike Cannon was a licensed barber and | 9 | | cosmetologist for over 62 years; he loved his work and the | 10 | | opportunity it gave him to talk to people every day; and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Mike Cannon committed to his faith when he was 18 | 12 | | years old; he will be remembered for being a wonderful | 13 | | husband, an amazing father, and the world's most fun "Poppy" | 14 | | to his beloved grandchildren; and
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Mike Cannon was preceded in death by his parents | 16 | | and his brothers, Larry Cannon and Steve Cannon; and
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Mike Cannon is survived by his wife of over 57 | 18 | | years, Mary Kay Cannon; his daughters, Christine (Dan) Schmidt | 19 | | and Cathi (David) Fritz; his grandchildren, Jack Fritz, Lauren | 20 | | Schmidt, Annalise Fritz, and Tyler Schmidt; his dog, Tate; and |

| 2 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | 3 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 4 | | Mikel Jay "Mike" Cannon and extend our sincere condolences to | 5 | | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 6 | | further
