| 10 | | WHEREAS, The Baccalaureate/Transfer program remained the | 11 | | largest credit instructional program area, enrolling 43.5% of | 12 | | students; 34.3% of all students enrolled in Fiscal Year 2014 | 13 | | indicated the intent to transfer to another school; and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, A total of 69,812 collegiate-level degrees and | 15 | | certificates were awarded to Illinois community college | 16 | | students in Fiscal Year 2014; Baccalaureate/Transfer degrees | 17 | | accounted for the second largest group of completers with a | 18 | | total of 19,524; and

| | | HR0333 | - 2 - | LRB099 11605 GRL 33339 r |
|
| 1 | | WHEREAS, Nearly 3 out of every 10 graduates earned | 2 | | Baccalaureate/Transfer degrees; 7 out of 10 Transfer degree | 3 | | completers in Fiscal Year 2014 indicated the intent to transfer | 4 | | to a 4-year institution; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, The transfer rate for Illinois Public Community | 6 | | Colleges students into 4-year colleges and universities is | 7 | | about 37%; and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, The process of transferring into a 4-year college | 9 | | or university is difficult for community college students | 10 | | because the Illinois Articulation Initiative lacks uniformity; | 11 | | almost every college and university participating in the | 12 | | Illinois Articulation Initiative has their own set of | 13 | | transferable credits; many credits earned at a community | 14 | | college may not be applied towards a 4-year degree and | 15 | | community college students spend more time and incur | 16 | | unnecessary expenses in pursuit of a 4-year degree; therefore, | 17 | | be it
| 18 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | 19 | | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | 20 | | respectfully urge all public and private colleges and | 21 | | universities in the State to work together to strengthen the | 22 | | Illinois Articulation Initiative to allow greater uniformity |
