| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | 3 | | to learn of the death of legendary Chicago radio personality | 4 | | Lin Brehmer, who passed away on January 22, 2023; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Lin Brehmer was born in New York in August 1954 | 6 | | and was raised in Queens; he graduated from Colgate University | 7 | | in Hamilton, New York; he married Sara Farr in 1997; and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Lin Brehmer began his radio career at WQBK-FM in | 9 | | Albany, New York, where he became known as "The Reverend of | 10 | | Rock 'n' Roll"; in 1984, he became the music director at WXRT | 11 | | in Chicago, helping to define the station's personality; he | 12 | | was the longtime radio host of Chicago's WXRT-FM 93.1, first | 13 | | going on air as a morning drive host in 1991 before becoming a | 14 | | midday host in 2020; after some time away due to health issues, | 15 | | he returned to the air in November 2022; during his career, he | 16 | | was noted for his song selections as a disc jockey and his | 17 | | artfully written on-air essays, which he called "Lin's Bin"; | 18 | | and
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Lin Brehmer was a devoted Chicago Cubs fan; he | 20 | | loved music, attending nearly 1,500 rock concerts with his | 21 | | favorite one being a semisecret show by the Rolling Stones at | 22 | | the Double Door in 1997; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Lin Brehmer was the voice of Chicago to many; he | 2 | | will be remembered for infusing his on-air work with uncommon | 3 | | humanity and warmth, which was an extension of his personality | 4 | | off-air; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Lin Brehmer is survived by his wife, Sara, and | 6 | | his son, Wilson; therefore, be it
| 7 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL | 8 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
| 9 | | Lin Brehmer and extend our sincere
condolences to his family, | 10 | | friends, and all who knew and loved
him; and be it further
| 11 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
| 12 | | presented to the family of Lin Brehmer as an expression of
our | 13 | | deepest sympathy.
