| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Wilburn "Mac" Sanders, who passed away on | 4 | | April 9, 2015; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Wilburn Sanders was born on July 7, 1932 in | 6 | | Chicago; his parents were Henry Sanders and Emma Emily Hunt | 7 | | Sanders; and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Wilburn Sanders grew up in the Morgan Park | 9 | | community and attended John D. Shoop Elementary School and | 10 | | Morgan Park High School, where he excelled in sports, including | 11 | | baseball and basketball; during his childhood, he attended Beth | 12 | | Eden Baptist Church with his siblings; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, After high school, Wilburn Sanders worked for a | 14 | | brief time at the Ford Motor Company assembly plant; in 1952, | 15 | | he was drafted into the United States Army, serving during the | 16 | | height of the Korean War; after his discharge from the Army, he | 17 | | continued working at the Ford plant until 1956, when he joined | 18 | | the Chicago Police Department; he served at the Department with | 19 | | distinction until his retirement in 1986; he then worked in | 20 | | security for the McCormick Place Convention Center until his | 21 | | final retirement in 1996; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Wilburn Sanders was preceded in death by his | 2 | | parents; his siblings, Shirley Richardson and Oswald Sanders; | 3 | | and his first wife, Catherine Macklin; and | 4 | | WHEREAS, Wilburn Sanders is survived by his devoted wife, | 5 | | Paula; 2 children, Kevin (Audrey) Sanders and Kitty (Robert) | 6 | | Collins; 4 grandchildren, Kevin and Yvonne Sanders and Paige | 7 | | and Bobby Collins; his siblings, George Sanders, Ronald (Burma) | 8 | | Sanders, Wilma Scott, and Elizabeth (Earl) Bowen; 4 | 9 | | great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and | 10 | | friends; therefore, be it
| 11 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | 12 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his | 13 | | family and friends, mourn the passing of Wilburn "Mac" Sanders; | 14 | | and be it further
| 15 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 16 | | presented to the family of Wilburn Sanders as an expression of | 17 | | our sympathy.
