| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | 3 | | to learn of the death of Rev. Louis A. Barnes of Pembroke | 4 | | Township, who passed away on June 5, 2021; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Rev. Barnes was born in Thomastown, Mississippi | 6 | | to Willie and Ella Mae (Mitchell) Barnes on November 29, 1930; | 7 | | he served in the U.S. Army as a private during the Korean War; | 8 | | and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Rev. Barnes was the pastor at St. Anne Woods | 10 | | Community Chapel in Pembroke Township; he was a resident of | 11 | | the Pembroke Township area for 46 years and had been a pastor | 12 | | for more than 46 years; he was also a trustee for the Village | 13 | | of Hopkins Park; and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Rev. Barnes was a member of NABVETS 0084 Pembroke | 15 | | Township Chapter; his hobbies included singing, playing | 16 | | guitar, listening to Jazz music, and spending time with family | 17 | | and church members and members of his community; and
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Rev. Barnes was preceded in death by his wife, | 19 | | Juanita Barnes; his son, Cleophus Barnes; one granddaughter; | 20 | | and seven siblings; and

Barnes is survived by his daughters, Ruebena | 2 | | Parnell, Vanessa (Tommie) Goss, and Yolanda Barnes; his | 3 | | sister, Warden Stokes; his brothers, Marcus, Robert (Fannie), | 4 | | and Lester (Essie) Barnes; 11 grandchildren; 24 | 5 | | great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; | 6 | | therefore, be it
| 7 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | 8 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 9 | | Rev. Louis A. Barnes and extend our sincere condolences to his | 10 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 11 | | further
