| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Cindy S. Jensen-Toews, who passed away on | 4 | | March 20, 2019; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Cindy Jensen-Toews was born on August 13, 1947; | 6 | | she attended East High School and graduated from Guilford High | 7 | | School in 1965; she spent a year at the Patricia Stevens | 8 | | finishing school (Patricia Stevens College); and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Cindy Jensen-Toews started Unique Bouquets in | 10 | | 1980, Rockford's first balloon delivery service; she became | 11 | | "Rockford's Sweetheart" and was able to bring joy into many | 12 | | situations; she received the Women's Business Leader Award and | 13 | | the Leader Luncheon Connie Tremulus Award; and | 14 | | WHEREAS, In 1990, Cindy Jensen-Toews was diagnosed with a | 15 | | rare liver disease for which the only cure was an organ | 16 | | transplant; she was a pioneer in spreading transplant | 17 | | awareness; in 1996, she survived three liver transplants within | 18 | | four months at the University of Wisconsin; she was one of the | 19 | | top ten news stories that year in Rockford and continued to | 20 | | share the importance of donations; and
| 21 | | WHEREAS, Cindy Jensen-Toews was a member of Our Savior's |

| 1 | | Lutheran Church, where she served on the church council and | 2 | | several other committees; she was a proud member of the | 3 | | Elizabeth Circle; and | 4 | | WHEREAS, Cindy Jensen-Toews loved her family, and everyone | 5 | | knew how important family was to her; her grandchildren were | 6 | | the highlights of her life, and she was proud of every one of | 7 | | them and loved sharing their accomplishments with others; and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Cindy Jensen-Toews was preceded in death by her | 9 | | father, David Hopp; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Cindy Jensen-Toews is survived by her husband, Bob | 11 | | Toews; her son, David (Cindi) Jensen; her daughter, Andrea | 12 | | (George) Bathje; her bonus son, Dan (Jodee) Johnson; her | 13 | | grandchildren, Cara, Katie, Cole, Jack, Ben, Malloree, and | 14 | | Matthew; her mother, Dorothy Hopp; her sisters, Cristi (Chuck) | 15 | | Kniess and Cathleen (Steve) Ellison; her sister-in-law, Jane | 16 | | (Robert) Burden; numerous nieces and nephews; and the father of | 17 | | her children, John (Carol) Jensen; therefore, be it
| 18 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | 19 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 20 | | Cindy S. Jensen-Toews and extend our sincere condolences to her | 21 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it | 22 | | further
