| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 | | Representatives wish to congratulate Dan Groce on his | 4 | | remarkable teaching and coaching career; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Dan Groce has been a dedicated teacher in central | 6 | | Illinois for 12 years, a dean of students
for two years, and a | 7 | | principal for 20 years; he has also coached school sports | 8 | | teams for 35 years; and | 9 | | WHEREAS, Dan Groce graduated from Illinois State | 10 | | University in 1986 with an undergraduate degree in physical
| 11 | | education; he then earned his master's degree in adapted | 12 | | physical
education; and | 13 | | WHEREAS, Hired by the Chenoa Grade School superintendent | 14 | | and by
Principal Tom Krones, who had served in the post since | 15 | | Dan was in Kindergarten, Dan Groce started teaching at Chenoa
| 16 | | Grade School as a part-time physical education teacher, and | 17 | | the 6th graders he taught that year included Joe Moore
and | 18 | | Becky Drayer; and | 19 | | WHEREAS, The following year, Dan Groce began teaching | 20 | | social studies and became a full-time educator; during this | 21 | | second year, he received the news that his job was being cut |

budgetary reasons; however, a special board meeting was | 2 | | held to hire him back with tenure as a full-time
PE/social | 3 | | studies teacher; and | 4 | | WHEREAS, In 1999, Dan Groce began his career as an | 5 | | administrator and earned his administrative degree, which was | 6 | | initiated because retired principal Tom Krones had agreed to | 7 | | return as principal only if Dan Groce
would be his | 8 | | co-principal; and | 9 | | WHEREAS, Dan Groce was the grade school principal as well | 10 | | as the high school principal the last year of the
Chenoa | 11 | | schools' existence; when Chenoa was annexed in the 2003-2004 | 12 | | school year, he
became the principal of Chenoa Elementary | 13 | | School and, later, Prairie Central Primary West; and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, During Dan Groce's career in the Chenoa and | 15 | | Prairie Central school districts, he coached
high school | 16 | | football, high school girls basketball, jr. high boys | 17 | | basketball, and jr. high track; and
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Dan Groce has touched the lives of thousands of | 19 | | Illinois students and their families during his
career; and
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Dan Groce has stated that he could not have | 21 | | enjoyed his career any more than he has; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Dan Groce has announced his retirement from the | 2 | | Prairie Central School district but has also
announced his | 3 | | intention to continue his coaching endeavors; therefore, be it
| 4 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | 5 | | HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | 6 | | we congratulate Dan
Groce on his remarkable teaching and | 7 | | coaching career and wish him the best in his retirement; and be | 8 | | it further
| 9 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 10 | | presented to Dan Groce and his family as a symbol of our | 11 | | respect and esteem.
