| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | 3 | | to learn of the death of Daniel J. "Dan" Dondanville of | 4 | | Springfield, who passed away on April 29, 2020; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Dan Dondanville was born in Springfield to Leo | 6 | | Dondanville Jr. and Ann Mosey Dondanville on January 10, 1960; | 7 | | he graduated from Griffin High School in 1978 and the | 8 | | University of Notre Dame in 1982; he married Anne Hesslau in La | 9 | | Grange on June 23, 1984; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Dan Dondanville was the senior resident director | 11 | | and a wealth management advisor for Merrill Lynch in | 12 | | Springfield, where he worked for 35 years; he skillfully | 13 | | taught individuals and institutions to invest responsibly and | 14 | | to plan for their futures; he was universally respected and | 15 | | admired by his colleagues and friends at Merrill Lynch, who | 16 | | made going to work each day fun and rewarding for him; his | 17 | | leadership was recognized nationally; he was named among the | 18 | | top 400 U.S. Retirement Plan Advisors by Financial Times | 19 | | Magazine in 2015; he received the David Brady Award, Merrill | 20 | | Lynch's most prestigious award, for demonstrating outstanding | 21 | | philanthropy, client focus, and overall commitment to Merrill | 22 | | Lynch and his local community in 2017; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Dan Dondanville served the Springfield community | 2 | | on numerous boards and committees throughout his career, | 3 | | including service as past president of the Sacred-Heart | 4 | | Griffin Advisory Board, the Sangamo Club, the Notre Dame Club | 5 | | of Central Illinois, and the Little Flower School Board; he | 6 | | also served on the Little Flower Parish Finance Committee, the | 7 | | Saint John's Hospital Advisory Board, the Boys and Girls Club | 8 | | of Central Illinois Foundation Board of Directors, the | 9 | | Community Foundation of Illinois Advisory Board, the San | 10 | | Damiano Committee for the Hospital Sisters, the Downtown | 11 | | Springfield Corporation, St. Joseph's Home, the Lincoln Land | 12 | | Community College Foundation, and many others; in addition, he | 13 | | coached Springfield Youth Football for 12 years; and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Dan Dondanville was recognized as Man of the Year | 15 | | by the Notre Dame Club of Central Illinois and was most | 16 | | recently inducted into the Sacred-Heart Griffin Alumni Hall of | 17 | | Fame in 2018; and
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Dan Dondanville was known for his commitment to | 19 | | his family, his strong faith, his dedication to Catholic | 20 | | education, and his devotion to coaching others; he was an avid | 21 | | boater, water skier, snow skier, Notre Dame Football tailgate | 22 | | host, country music fan, and all-around sports dad; he will be | 23 | | dearly missed; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Dan Dondanville was preceded in death by his | 2 | | brother, John (Janet) Dondanville; and
| 3 | | WHEREAS, At the time of his death, Dan Dondanville was | 4 | | survived by his wife, Anne; his sons, Brian (Jane), Tim | 5 | | (Sara), Patrick (Ashley Ann), Roger, and Adrian Cave; his | 6 | | grandson, Griffin; his parents, Ann and Lee Dondanville; his | 7 | | siblings, Mary Rooney (Dr. Tom), Patty Berman (Jim), and Joe | 8 | | (Kelly); his sister-in-law, Janet Dondanville; his | 9 | | mother-in-law; and his many nieces and nephews; therefore, be | 10 | | it
| 11 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | 12 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 13 | | Daniel J. "Dan" Dondanville and extend our sincere condolences | 14 | | to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be | 15 | | it further
| 16 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 17 | | presented to the family of Dan Dondanville as an expression of | 18 | | our deepest sympathy.
