| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of James Cooper of Waukegan, who passed away | 4 | | on June 3, 2013; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, James Cooper was born on April 26, 1931, in | 6 | | Jackson, Mississippi; his parents were Nathan and Mamie Cooper; | 7 | | and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, James Cooper accepted Christ as his Lord and | 9 | | Savior at an early age while attending Mt. Nebo Baptist Church | 10 | | in Jackson, Mississippi; in 1953, he joined the First Baptist | 11 | | Church of North Chicago, where he served as a deacon for over | 12 | | 50 years; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, James Cooper was a graduate of Lanier High School | 14 | | in Jackson, Mississippi; after graduation, he attended Jackson | 15 | | State College for one year on a Brick Mason Scholarship before | 16 | | leaving to serve his country in the United States Marine Corps | 17 | | during the Korean Conflict; and
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Following his discharge from the Marine Corps, | 19 | | James Cooper relocated to Waukegan, where he worked briefly at | 20 | | the Veteran's Hospital before embarking on a career in | 21 | | communications as a telephone lineman at Fort Sheridan; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, James Cooper is survived by his wife of 57 years, | 2 | | Mattie; his children, Dwight Cooper, Cynthia Cooper, Jeffery | 3 | | (LaSonya) Cooper, and Cassandra Cooper; his brothers, Nathan | 4 | | Cooper, Frank (Doris) Cooper; his sisters, Rosie Minter, Vinnie | 5 | | Medina, Mamie Miller, and Bettie (William) Johnson; his 7 | 6 | | grandchildren; and his many nephews, nieces, cousins, and close | 7 | | friends; therefore, be it
| 8 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL | 9 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | 10 | | his family and friends, the passing of James Cooper; and be it | 11 | | further
