| 1 | | SENATE RESOLUTION
| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | 3 | | to learn of the death of Joseph William "Bill" Maloney of Avon, | 4 | | who passed away on July 31, 2023; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Bill Maloney was born to Joseph and Hazel Maloney | 6 | | in Murrayville on February 10, 1930; he attended the local | 7 | | elementary school and later Routt Catholic High School in | 8 | | Jacksonville; he served overseas in the U.S. Army during the | 9 | | Korean War from 1952 to 1953; after his discharge, he and his | 10 | | wife, Lois, moved to Avon; and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Bill Maloney worked as a salesman at the Neff | 12 | | Company, the local John Deere dealership in Avon; he later | 13 | | became store manager before ultimately purchasing the | 14 | | dealership in 1973; he also enjoyed farming and soon acquired | 15 | | his first acreage, to which he continuously added; and
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Bill Maloney was a member of St. Augustine | 17 | | Catholic Church for 67 years; he was also a member of the | 18 | | Knights of Columbus; and
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Bill Maloney and his wife supported many | 20 | | community events, especially the Avon Fat Steer Show and Cake | 21 | | Auction; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Bill Maloney lived a big life and enjoyed | 2 | | collecting antiques, traveling, and raising camels; and
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Bill Maloney is survived by his wife of 71 years, | 4 | | Lois; his children, Therese (Tom) Van Voorn, Ceci Maloney, | 5 | | Eric (Cilia) Maloney, Vince (Kim) Maloney, and Greg (Linda) | 6 | | Maloney; ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one | 7 | | brother-in-law; two sisters-in-law; and six camels; therefore, | 8 | | be it
| 9 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL | 10 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 11 | | Joseph William "Bill" Maloney and extend our sincere | 12 | | condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved | 13 | | him; and be it further
| 14 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 15 | | presented to the family of Bill Maloney as an expression of our | 16 | | deepest sympathy.
