| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Richard D. Steigmann of Champaign, who | 4 | | passed away on April 9, 2017; and | 5 | | WHEREAS, Richard Steigmann was born in Chicago to Dr. | 6 | | Frederick Steigmann and Anna Ruth Dibblee Steigmann on January | 7 | | 14, 1942; he served in the United States Army from 1964 to | 8 | | 1967, with a tour in the Republic of Korea, assigned to a | 9 | | security company near the demilitarized zone; he married Karen | 10 | | Fleischer Steigmann at the Parish Church of St. Luke in | 11 | | Evanston on August 16, 1969; and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Richard Steigmann was a small-business owner and | 13 | | was proud to serve on the Champaign County Board; he retired in | 14 | | 2015 from the Illinois Department of Employment Security; and
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Richard Steigmann was an advocate for returning | 16 | | veterans as a member of Employer Support of the Guard and | 17 | | Reserve; he was a fan of the Chicago White Sox and the Chicago | 18 | | Bears; he could be found watching the teams each season and | 19 | | would prepare for the NFL draft each year, with his eternal | 20 | | optimism that the Chicago Bears would finally draft the right | 21 | | player; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Richard Steigmann was preceded in death by his | 2 | | parents; and
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Richard Steigmann is survived by his wife of 47 | 4 | | years, Karen; his children, David (Anthea Schwalbe) Steigmann, | 5 | | Catherine Steigmann (Jason) Lipinsky, and Jennifer "Jay" | 6 | | Steigmann; his grandchildren, Andrew Lipinsky, Peter Lipinsky, | 7 | | and William Thomas Steigmann; his beloved honorary children, | 8 | | Mandy Frank and Dr. Murty (Kalli Kirkendoll) Renduchintala; his | 9 | | sister, Judith Steigmann (Dr. Victor) Feldman; and his brother, | 10 | | Robert J. (Sherry) Steigmann; therefore, be it
| 11 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | 12 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 13 | | Richard D. Steigmann, and extend our sincere condolences to his | 14 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 15 | | further | 16 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 17 | | presented to the family of Richard Steigmann as an expression | 18 | | of our deepest sympathy.
