| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Richard B. Maye, Ph.D., who passed away | 4 | | on July 13, 2013; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Richard Maye was born on October 25, 1933, in | 6 | | Newbern, Alabama; his parents were Johnnie Boykin and Frances | 7 | | Mayin; and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Richard Maye served his country as a member of | 9 | | the United States Army; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Richard Maye served as an Assistant Professor | 11 | | of Sociology at Illinois College from 2001 until his passing; | 12 | | and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Richard Maye was inducted into the 1980-1981 | 14 | | edition of Who's Who of America and was a founding member of | 15 | | One Church One Child, which earned him an invitation to the | 16 | | White House; and
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Richard Maye was ordained as a minister at | 18 | | Grace Baptist Church in Columbus, Ohio; he started his ministry | 19 | | in Springfield at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church before founding | 20 | | Second Timothy Baptist Church in 1988; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Richard Maye was preceded in death by his | 2 | | parents and his grandchild; and | 3 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Richard Maye is survived by his sons, Darryl | 4 | | Maye, Byron K. Maye, and Larry Lewis-Maye; his brothers, John | 5 | | Boykin and Scott Boykin; his sister, Mary Ann Boykin; his 3 | 6 | | grandchildren; his 4 nieces; his 2 nephews; and his many | 7 | | cousins; therefore, be it
| 8 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL | 9 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his | 10 | | family and friends, mourn the passing of Richard B. Maye, | 11 | | Ph.D.; and be it further
