| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | 3 | | to learn of the death of Gary M. Stimpson of Moline, who passed | 4 | | away on August 28, 2023; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Gary Stimpson was born in Gardner, Massachusetts | 6 | | to Thomas E. and Ruthmarie Lange Stimpson on January 8, 1949; | 7 | | he graduated from Alleman High School in 1967; he served in the | 8 | | U.S. Navy on the USS Intrepid during the Vietnam War and was | 9 | | decorated for his service; he
married Ann R. "Ricki" Miller at | 10 | | St. Mary's Catholic Church in Rock Island on May 13, 1972; he | 11 | | received his bachelor's degree in industrial engineering from | 12 | | Augustana College in 1976; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Gary Stimpson worked for nearly 30 years at | 14 | | Nichols Aluminum in Davenport, Iowa, where he was one of the | 15 | | pioneers in the field of environmental engineering; he ended | 16 | | his career at Keokuk Steel Castings, retiring in 2014; and
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Gary Stimpson was a lifelong Catholic and | 18 | | parishioner of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Rock Island; he | 19 | | enjoyed golfing, gardening, history, and politics, but most of | 20 | | all, he loved spending time with his friends and family, | 21 | | especially his grandchildren; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Gary Stimpson was preceded in death by his | 2 | | parents; and
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Gary Stimpson is survived by his wife, Ricki; his | 4 | | daughters, Emily (Christopher) Chapman, Annmarie (Andy) | 5 | | Shrake, and Sara (Nathan) Weeks; his grandchildren, Emma, | 6 | | Lily, and Charlie Shrake, Jackson and Luke Weeks, and Tobias, | 7 | | Becket, and Eleanore Chapman; his siblings, Dennis J. (Linda) | 8 | | Stimpson, Theresa Stimpson, Mary Knox, Suzie (Dan) Budde, and | 9 | | Patty (Phil) Wilson; dozens of nieces, nephews, grandnieces, | 10 | | and grandnephews; and many dear friends, including Charley and | 11 | | Mary Arnold, Ron and Kay Cabay, Kathleen Kennedy, and Larry | 12 | | and Linda Moore; therefore, be it
| 13 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL | 14 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 15 | | Gary M. Stimpson and extend our sincere condolences to his | 16 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 17 | | further
| 18 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 19 | | presented to the family of Gary Stimpson as an expression of | 20 | | our deepest sympathy.
