| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | 3 | | to learn of the death of Vernon L. "Red" Blackert Jr. of | 4 | | Prophetstown, who passed away on August 25, 2023; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Red Blackert was born to Vernon Sr. and Alice | 6 | | (Pratt) Blackert in Tampico on February 12, 1933; he graduated | 7 | | from Annawan High School in 1951; he married Betty Jane | 8 | | Blackert on August 31, 1952; he served in the U.S. Army; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Red Blackert founded his own construction | 10 | | company, where he worked for the remainder of his life; and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Red Blackert was very active in the Hooppole | 12 | | American Legion and the Annawan School Board; he was a member | 13 | | of Zion United Methodist Church in Hooppole; and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Red Blackert enjoyed hunting, fishing, horseback | 15 | | riding, and camping on his family's property; and
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Red Blackert was preceded in death by his | 17 | | parents; his wife; his daughter, Pam Kostner; his | 18 | | great-grandson, Noah DeRycke; his brother, Jerry Blackert; and | 19 | | his many sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Red Blackert is survived by his children, Cheryl | 2 | | (John) DeRycke, Kirk (friend, Ann Hutchinson) Blackert, and | 3 | | Angela (Dean) Cantrell; his grandchildren, Cory (Michelle) | 4 | | DeRycke, Adam (Hope) DeRycke, Dusty (Jill) DeRycke, Jacob | 5 | | Cantrell, Seth Cantrell, Ethan Cantrell, Matt Kostner, and | 6 | | Lisa Marshall; his great-grandchildren, Nathan DeRycke, Rachel | 7 | | DeRycke, Kyla DeRycke, Katelyn DeRycke, Claire DeRycke, | 8 | | Caroline DeRycke, Cordelia DeRycke, Rayne Marshall, C.J. | 9 | | Kostner, and Annabella Kostner; and his siblings, Ralph | 10 | | (MaryAnn) Blackert, Walter Blackert, Adria Kleckner, and Linda | 11 | | Billiet; therefore, be it
| 12 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL | 13 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
| 14 | | Vernon L. "Red" Blackert Jr. and extend our sincere
| 15 | | condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
| 16 | | him; and be it further
| 17 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
| 18 | | presented to the family of Red Blackert as an expression of
our | 19 | | deepest sympathy.
