| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Marion | 4 | | Louise "Penny" Sullivan Smith, who passed away on September | 5 | | 15, 2021; and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Marion Smith was born to the union of Roosevelt | 7 | | Pluitt and Ethel Sullivan in Chicago on September 15, 1933; | 8 | | she was raised in what is now known as the Bronzeville area of | 9 | | Chicago; she graduated from DuSable High School; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Marion Smith was pursued by several modeling | 11 | | agencies and considered law school after high school; however, | 12 | | her love for family led her to begin a family of her own; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Marion Smith was a hard worker with many talents; | 14 | | she could sew and construct anything; her home was always | 15 | | known as a showplace to all who visited; she will be remembered | 16 | | for being a strong family person who loved everyone and | 17 | | everyone loved; and
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Marion Smith was preceded in death by her | 19 | | siblings, Roosevelt Pluitt Jr., Ethel, Dorothy, Charles, | 20 | | Constance, and Othello; she was also preceded in death by | 21 | | three children, Lolita Smith-Oliver, Michael Smith, and Freddy |

| 2 | | WHEREAS, Marion Smith is survived by her children, Fred | 3 | | (Leonette) Smith, Sharon A. (Lee) Taylor, Hakeem A. (Avonda) | 4 | | Muhammad, and Andre (LaZondra) Smith; her grandchildren; her | 5 | | great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, | 6 | | and friends; therefore, be it
| 7 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | 8 | | HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | 9 | | we mourn the passing of Marion Louise "Penny" Sullivan Smith | 10 | | and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and | 11 | | all who knew and loved her; and be it further
| 12 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 13 | | presented to the family of Marion Smith as an expression of our | 14 | | deepest sympathy.
