| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of David Grant Brasmer of Rock Island, who | 4 | | passed away on April 21, 2017; and | 5 | | WHEREAS, David Brasmer was born in Galesburg to Hobart L. | 6 | | and Edith P. Miner Babbitt on April 23, 1922; Hobart Babbitt | 7 | | was killed in a railroad yard accident that same year; he | 8 | | became the son of Henry Brasmer in 1930 and Henry was the only | 9 | | father he knew and dearly loved;
he served in the United States | 10 | | Navy during World War II and married Dorothy Flodeen on May 17, | 11 | | 1946; and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, David Brasmer was a quality inspector for John | 13 | | Deere Harvester Works and retired in 1983 after 41 years; and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, David Brasmer was a longtime member of the Moline | 15 | | Gospel Temple, the Westside Assembly of God in Davenport, and | 16 | | the Bible Holiness Church in East Moline; he enjoyed playing | 17 | | golf and was a well-known Moline High School athlete in his | 18 | | youth; he enjoyed the Chicago Cubs, fishing, traveling, | 19 | | puzzles, and riding his Goldwing Trike; and
| 20 | | WHEREAS, David Brasmer was preceded in death by his wife of | 21 | | 61 years, Dorothy; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, David Brasmer is survived by his son, John D. | 2 | | (Connie) Brasmer; his granddaughters, Johnna Kay (Alan) | 3 | | Gustafson, Diana (Jim) Polton, and Bobby Jo Brasmer; his | 4 | | grandson, Shane Brasmer; four great-grandchildren; his former | 5 | | daughter-in-law, Kay Churchill and her daughter, Abby Tracy; | 6 | | therefore, be it
| 7 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | 8 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 9 | | David Grant Brasmer, and extend our sincere condolences to his | 10 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 11 | | further | 12 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 13 | | presented to the family of David Brasmer as an expression of | 14 | | our deepest sympathy.
