| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | 3 | | to learn of the death of Larry Joe Alexander of Jerseyville, | 4 | | who passed away on September 6, 2021; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Larry Alexander was born to George and Bernice | 6 | | (Price) Alexander in Jerseyville on October 31, 1963; he | 7 | | graduated from Jersey Community High School in 1982; after | 8 | | graduation, he went to Worsham College of Mortuary Science and | 9 | | obtained his degree in funeral directing and embalming; he | 10 | | married the love of his life, Julie Ann Calvey, at the | 11 | | Presbyterian Church in Jerseyville on June 24, 1989; and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, In 1985, Larry Alexander started his career at | 13 | | Gubser Funeral Home; he became owner in 2000 and renamed it | 14 | | Alexander & Gubser Funeral Home; in 2020, the funeral home | 15 | | became the Alexander Funeral Home; and
| 16 | | WHEREAS, In 1992, Larry Alexander was elected Jersey | 17 | | County Coroner and continued to hold that political office | 18 | | until his death; this made him the longest running coroner in | 19 | | Jersey County history; throughout his political career, he was | 20 | | proud to be a consistent "Top Vote Getter" in Jersey County; | 21 | | and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Larry Alexander was a member of the 1st Assembly | 2 | | of God Church of Jerseyville, the Jersey County Republican | 3 | | Party, the Ainad Shriners, Full Moon Masonic Lodge #341, The | 4 | | Scottish Rite, The National Rifle Association, the Illinois | 5 | | Funeral Directors Association, the National Funeral Directors | 6 | | Association, the Gideons International, and the Illinois Odd | 7 | | Fellows; and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Larry Alexander was preceded in death by his | 9 | | parents; his wife; his siblings, James, Gary, Ronald, and | 10 | | Carolyn Alexander; his father-in-law, Donald Calvey; and his | 11 | | mother-in-law, Dorothy Calvey; and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Larry Alexander is survived by his daughters, | 13 | | Alyssa Breann Alexander and Kari Jo Alexander; his special | 14 | | niece whom he raised as a daughter, Kristie (Brad) Ross and | 15 | | their son, David Ross; his brother, Floyd (Diane) Alexander; | 16 | | and his many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins; therefore, | 17 | | be it
| 18 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | 19 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 20 | | Larry Joe Alexander and extend our sincere condolences to his | 21 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 22 | | further
