| 1 | | HOUSE RESOLUTION | 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 | | Representatives wish to congratulate the Greater Centralia | 4 | | Chamber of Commerce on the occasion of its 100th anniversary; | 5 | | and | 6 | | WHEREAS, On May 9, 1924, the Greater Centralia Chamber of | 7 | | Commerce (the Chamber) was founded by a group of community | 8 | | members under the leadership of Reverend F.O. Fannon, who | 9 | | served as its first president, during a period of economic | 10 | | growth as a result of Centralia's successful railroad and coal | 11 | | mine industries; the organization was originally formed with | 12 | | the aim of promoting business, tourism, and commerce to | 13 | | benefit the community of Centralia; and | 14 | | WHEREAS, Since its creation, the Chamber has carried out | 15 | | its mission as a recognized, leading organization for its | 16 | | members and the community through stimulating a healthy | 17 | | business climate by providing programs and services to | 18 | | strengthen the community and to directly benefit its members | 19 | | and enhance their respective business' success; and | 20 | | WHEREAS, The Chamber has expanded beyond Centralia in the | 21 | | State of Illinois, encompassing the counties of Marion, | 22 | | Clinton, Jefferson, and Washington and including the cities of |

| 1 | | Centralia, Central City, Wamac, Carlyle, Dix, Greenville, | 2 | | Highland, Hoffman, Irvington, Mt. Vernon, Odin, Salem, | 3 | | Sandoval, and Walnut Hill, among others; and | 4 | | WHEREAS, The Chamber consists of more than 300 members, | 5 | | including locally owned businesses, home-based businesses, | 6 | | corporate retail and industrial operations, hospitals, | 7 | | financial institutions, and manufacturers, and partners with | 8 | | local municipalities, schools, and civic organizations to | 9 | | achieve its purpose of serving its members and the community; | 10 | | and | 11 | | WHEREAS, The Chamber, in collaboration with its partners, | 12 | | provides information and sponsors social and educational | 13 | | events for its members and the community; the organization | 14 | | works with each member to achieve their individual needs and | 15 | | goals of success, and it also actively supports regional | 16 | | growth and community development; and | 17 | | WHEREAS, In addition to its purpose, the Chamber prides | 18 | | itself on building relationships and improving communication | 19 | | with and between its members, whilst resolving members' | 20 | | legislative and political issues with integrity and diplomacy | 21 | | in line with the best interests of the business climate of the | 22 | | community; and |

| 1 | | WHEREAS, The Chamber's celebration of its 100-year | 2 | | anniversary serves as a testament to its immeasurable impact, | 3 | | support, and invaluable contributions to its members, | 4 | | community, and the State of Illinois; therefore, be it | 5 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | 6 | | HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | 7 | | we congratulate the Greater Centralia Chamber of Commerce (the | 8 | | Chamber) on achieving its 100-year anniversary; and be it | 9 | | further | 10 | | RESOLVED, That we commend the Chamber and its employees, | 11 | | members, and partners for their remarkable achievements and | 12 | | invaluable contributions to the State of Illinois over the | 13 | | years; and be it further | 14 | | RESOLVED, That we extend our best wishes to the Chamber's | 15 | | employees, members, and partners; and be it further | 16 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 17 | | presented to the Greater Centralia Chamber of Commerce as an | 18 | | expression of our esteem and respect. |
