| 2 | | WHEREAS, Results of recent lead testing in Decatur schools | 3 | | identified service and plumbing
lines in 12 school buildings | 4 | | that post a threat to students; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Exposure to lead can be detrimental to the | 6 | | development of school age children, as
studies have found that | 7 | | even low levels of lead can lead to behavioral and learning | 8 | | disabilities; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Lead exposure is also associated with a variety of | 10 | | other harmful effects for both
children and adults, including | 11 | | neurological, cardiovascular, kidney, developmental, and
| 12 | | reproductive outcomes; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, While the majority of children's lead exposure | 14 | | comes from sources such as soil
contamination, dust, or paint | 15 | | chips, lead in drinking water can be a contributing factor to | 16 | | overall
lead exposure; and
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Despite overall declines in blood lead levels in | 18 | | recent decades, students in
communities with older school | 19 | | buildings continue to experience high levels of lead exposure; | 20 | | therefore, be it

the Trump Administration to | 4 | | prioritize eliminating sources of lead exposure in schools; and | 5 | | be it further
