| HOUSE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, John T. Trutter has been called to eternal life by | 3 |
| the wisdom of God at the age of 86; and
| 4 |
| WHEREAS, John T. Trutter was a widely respected business | 5 |
| executive who hailed from a prominent Springfield family; and
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, John T. Trutter spent his career with the Illinois | 7 |
| Bell Telephone Company, holding positions in numerous facets | 8 |
| with the company before retiring as Senior Vice President for | 9 |
| Community Affairs and Public Relations; and
| 10 |
| WHEREAS, Known as a gifted organizer and natural leader, | 11 |
| John T. Trutter received his bachelor's degree from the | 12 |
| University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he was the | 13 |
| Student Body President; and
| 14 |
| WHEREAS, John T. Trutter achieved the rank of Lieutenant | 15 |
| Colonel in the United States Army and received the Legion of | 16 |
| Merit Award for his dedicated service during World War II; and | 17 |
| WHEREAS, An active member with numerous civic and | 18 |
| charitable organizations, John T. Trutter served on the Board | 19 |
| of the United Cerebral Palsy Association of Greater Chicago, | 20 |
| and for several years was its President and Chairman; and

| WHEREAS, During the 1980's, John T. Trutter was the | 2 |
| President and Chief Executive Officer of the Chicago Convention | 3 |
| and Tourism Bureau and President of the Chicago Tourism | 4 |
| Council; and | 5 |
| WHEREAS, From 1986 until 2002, John T. Trutter was | 6 |
| Chancellor of the Lincoln Academy, which honors Illinois | 7 |
| residents for their contributions in diverse areas such as | 8 |
| business, science, and the arts; and
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, For his tireless efforts and distinguished work in | 10 |
| the social services, John T. Trutter was awarded the Order of | 11 |
| Lincoln by Governor James Thompson, the State of Illinois' | 12 |
| highest honor; and
| 13 |
| WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice, and dedication of John | 14 |
| T. Trutter serve as an example to all; and
| 15 |
| WHEREAS, John T. Trutter's love of life and ability to live | 16 |
| it to the fullest endeared him to his family members, friends, | 17 |
| and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in | 18 |
| ways they will never forget; and | 19 |
| WHEREAS, John T. Trutter was an individual of great | 20 |
| integrity and accomplishment who will be dearly missed and |

| fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends, and admirers; | 2 |
| and | 3 |
| WHEREAS, To his daughter, Edith Hauff, his son, Jonathan, | 4 |
| and his two grandchildren, John T. Trutter imparts a legacy of | 5 |
| faithfulness, service, and dignity; therefore, be it
| 6 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | 7 |
| NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | 8 |
| commemorate John T. Trutter for his grace-filled life and do | 9 |
| hereby express our condolences to his family; and be it further
| 10 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 11 |
| presented to the family of John T. Trutter as an expression of | 12 |
| our sympathy.
