| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 | | Representatives wish to congratulate Rev. Fredrick E. Wilson | 4 | | Sr. on the occasion of his retirement and recognize his | 5 | | distinguished career as a minister; and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Rev. Wilson was born and raised in East St.
Louis; | 7 | | he attended East St. Louis public schools and graduated in
June | 8 | | of 1966 from East St. Louis Senior High School, where he served | 9 | | as class president; he
further matriculated at Southern | 10 | | Illinois University, graduating with honors with
a major in | 11 | | speech communication and a minor in philosophy; and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Rev. Wilson managed P. N. Hirsch in East St.
Louis | 13 | | and Dollar General department stores, where he employed many | 14 | | adults
and gave countless youths their first job; and
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Rev. Wilson served the East St. Louis community
| 16 | | well as president of the East St. Louis Downtowners | 17 | | Association, secretary of
the East St. Louis Chamber of | 18 | | Commerce, and served as a board member of
East St. Louis School | 19 | | District #189 for six years; and | 20 | | WHEREAS, Rev. Wilson was called to the ministry in 1976 at | 21 | | Macedonia Alliance in East St. Louis; his first pastoral |

| 1 | | assignment was in 1979 at St. John Missionary Baptist
Church in | 2 | | Centreville; in 1982, he became pastor of his childhood
church, | 3 | | Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in East St. Louis, where | 4 | | he served as
pastor for 16 years; in 1996, he organized the
| 5 | | Greater Faith Christian Church in Centreville; he currently | 6 | | serves as senior pastor of the Greater New Mt. Eagle Missionary
| 7 | | Baptist Church in Chicago; and | 8 | | WHEREAS, In April of 2007, the
Fredrick E. Wilson Sr. | 9 | | Christian Education School was named in Rev. Wilson's honor; | 10 | | and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Rev. Wilson served as Baptist Youth Fellowship
| 12 | | Director, Director General, and Congress President in the | 13 | | oldest Baptist District
Association in America, the Wood River | 14 | | Baptist District Association; he
currently serves as 1st Vice | 15 | | President of the Greater New Era District Congress of
Christian | 16 | | Education; and
| 17 | | WHEREAS, For 41 years, Rev. Wilson has spread the Gospel | 18 | | and carried out the Great Commission as a gifted
organist, | 19 | | pianist, musical director, and an outstanding vocalist; | 20 | | therefore, be it
