| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Barbara M. Wilson, who passed away on May | 4 | | 19, 2017; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Barbara Wilson was born in England on December 7, | 6 | | 1941; she attended Guildford High School and studied electrical | 7 | | engineering in college; she married Gerald Moore; and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Barbara Wilson worked at Decca on, among other | 9 | | projects, modern Christmas tree lights; after getting married, | 10 | | she worked part time for several years as the secretary at the | 11 | | Royal Marines Officer's Mess in Hamworthy, Dorset, the first | 12 | | woman allowed in; she was an enthusiastic actor in the local | 13 | | Townswomen's Guild productions; and | 14 | | WHEREAS, Barbara Wilson immigrated to Chicago in 1975 and | 15 | | began teaching classes on electronics on a volunteer basis; she | 16 | | also ran the local Girl Scout troop; she had a brief career as | 17 | | a basket weaver and sold her products at craft shows and taught | 18 | | children how to weave; for several years, she volunteered at a | 19 | | home for the severely mentally disabled; she worked for almost | 20 | | 20 years at Sola Electric, documenting engineering processes, | 21 | | and then for another five years at Northgate Medical equipment | 22 | | doing the same; and |

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Barbara Wilson married Alan Wilson in 1980 and, | 2 | | after the children had all grown, they lived happily together | 3 | | in their house by the stream working jointly on nature | 4 | | conservation and prairie restoration projects; for the last 30 | 5 | | years, she was involved in prairie restoration and was a | 6 | | steward at the Lake-in-the-Hills Fen; she gave nature walks, | 7 | | botany classes, and conducted children's programs for the Fen, | 8 | | the Illinois Nature Conservancy, the McHenry County Land | 9 | | Conservancy, the McHenry County Conservation District, and the | 10 | | Algonquin Park District among many more; she did plant | 11 | | inventories of rare plants, annual plant monitoring, and seed | 12 | | collection programs; and | 13 | | WHEREAS, Barbara Wilson was honored countless times for her | 14 | | service to the conservation community; she was a Big Sister, a | 15 | | teacher's aide with ESL classes at McHenry County Community | 16 | | College, and a private tutor for ESL and math students; she | 17 | | played the recorder and the clarinet; she could remember the | 18 | | lyrics to most of the songs of her youth, and loved a good | 19 | | sci-fi book; and
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Barbara Wilson was preceded in death by her | 21 | | parents and her daughter, Sylvia Harrigan; and
| 22 | | WHEREAS, Barbara Wilson is survived by her husband, Alan; |

Moore; her stepdaughter, Tina | 2 | | Mudge, and children, Josh and Frank Mudge; her grandson, Kevin | 3 | | Krauser, and his wife, Samantha, and son, James Krauser; her | 4 | | granddaughter, Jillian Krauser, and son, Xander Cirrincione; | 5 | | her niece, Allison Harrington, and children, Grace and Fred; | 6 | | and her step-granddaughter, Lisa Hartney; therefore, be it
| 7 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | 8 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 9 | | Barbara M. Wilson, and extend our sincere condolences to her | 10 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it | 11 | | further
| 12 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 13 | | presented to the family of Barbara Wilson as an expression of | 14 | | our deepest sympathy.
