| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Sharon | 4 | | Judith "Judy" Beck, who passed away on June 25, 2019; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Judy Beck received a Bachelor of Arts in Biology | 6 | | from Old Dominion University; and
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Judy Beck worked professionally as a teacher and | 8 | | as a United States Environmental Protection Agency Lake | 9 | | Michigan Manager for 30 years; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Judy Beck tirelessly volunteered her time as a | 11 | | founding member of Save the Grove; she was a member and officer | 12 | | of the Grove Heritage Association, a councilperson for the | 13 | | Northern Illinois Planning Commission, a past president of the | 14 | | Illinois Association of Park Districts, and a local and State | 15 | | officer in the League of Women Voters; upon her retirement as | 16 | | the longest-serving board member of the Glenview Park District, | 17 | | a park was named "Judy Beck Park" in her honor; and
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Judy Beck had a caring heart for the entire world; | 19 | | she was committed to protecting the environment for the | 20 | | interests of all people and was a steadfast defender of Lake | 21 | | Michigan, wetlands, prairies, and the planet; she was a |

| 1 | | tireless advocate for parks, open spaces, and women's rights; | 2 | | she served her village, her State, her region, and her nation; | 3 | | and
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Judy Beck was the beloved wife of Thomas; the | 5 | | loving mother of Carter (Susan) and Darren (Kristina); the | 6 | | devoted grandmother of Oliver and Abigail; the faithful sister | 7 | | of Celia (Stuart) Steingold, Larry (Mitra) Newberg, Stevie | 8 | | (Jacie) Newberg, and the late David (Marlyn) Weinstein; and the | 9 | | daughter of the late Sylvan (the late Rosalin) Newberg and the | 10 | | late Shirley (the late Saul) Weinstein; therefore, be it
| 11 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | 12 | | HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | 13 | | we mourn the passing of Sharon Judith "Judy" Beck and extend | 14 | | our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who | 15 | | knew and loved her; and be it further
