| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Daniel C. Manning of Taylor Ridge, who | 4 | | passed away on March 21, 2017; and | 5 | | WHEREAS, Daniel Manning was born in Chicago to Delbert and | 6 | | Rosella Little Manning on August 13, 1940; he served in the | 7 | | United States Navy; he earned his bachelor's degree from Coe | 8 | | College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and pursued his Master of Arts | 9 | | and Education Specialist degrees at the University of Northern | 10 | | Iowa; he married Carolyn "Terry" Lahue in Walker, Iowa on | 11 | | November 20, 1965; and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Daniel Manning worked as a teacher at Urbana | 13 | | Consolidated High School in Urbana, Iowa from 1966 to 1969; he | 14 | | worked at Linn-Mar High School in Marion, Iowa from 1970 to | 15 | | 1971 and Bettendorf Middle School in Bettendorf, Iowa from 1972 | 16 | | to 2000; while teaching in Bettendorf, he coached boy's and | 17 | | girl's tennis at Pleasant Valley High School; and
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Daniel Manning greatly enjoyed spending time with | 19 | | his children and grandchildren and loved teaching and coaching; | 20 | | he volunteered for activities for many years at Genesis | 21 | | Hospital and as a volunteer driver for the American Cancer | 22 | | Society; he liked hiking, biking, and playing tennis and was a |

| 1 | | member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Andalusia; and
| 2 | | WHEREAS, Daniel Manning was preceded in death by his | 3 | | parents, and two nephews, Leon and Kenneth Jurgens; and
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Daniel Manning is survived by his wife of 51 | 5 | | years, Terry; his children, Maria (James) Copeland, Tina | 6 | | (Christopher) Hartley, and Travis (Bruce) Broughton; his | 7 | | grandchildren, Chelsea (Andrew) Edmark, Nicholas Browne, Kara | 8 | | Hartley, and Samantha Copeland; his siblings, Dorelaine | 9 | | (Stuart) Bushong, John Manning, Richard (Judy) Manning, and | 10 | | Mary Jane (LaVern) Jurgens; his mother-in-law, Betty Lahue; and | 11 | | many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
