| 1 | | HOUSE RESOLUTION | 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Daniel | 4 | | Kosiba of Niles, who passed away on January 7, 2024; and | 5 | | WHEREAS, Daniel Kosiba grew up in Niles, a town he loved, | 6 | | and dedicated over 60 years of his life to serving his | 7 | | community; he had a positive impact on every single person he | 8 | | encountered along the way; and | 9 | | WHEREAS, Daniel Kosiba was a Niles Park District | 10 | | Commissioner from 1977 to 1985, serving as president in 1979, | 11 | | 1980, and 1981, and he was instrumental as president in | 12 | | starting youth soccer; he was a board member, coach, and | 13 | | manager for the Niles Baseball League; he was the St. John | 14 | | Brebeuf Athletic Director, where in the 1970s, he highlighted | 15 | | the importance of offering sports for girls as well as for | 16 | | boys; he also served as the Niles Park District Athletic | 17 | | Director and the Niles West High School Junior Wolves Baseball | 18 | | Feeder Program Director; and | 19 | | WHEREAS, Daniel Kosiba was a member of the North American | 20 | | Martyrs Knights of Columbus, where he coordinated the annual | 21 | | holiday basketball tournament at St. John Brebeuf, which had | 22 | | over 200 basketball teams/cheerleading squads competing during |

| 1 | | its peak years; he was also a member of the Catholic Youth | 2 | | Organization (C.Y.O) and was instrumental with baseball, | 3 | | football, and basketball city championship tournaments; and | 4 | | WHEREAS, Daniel Kosiba loved being a "Pop Pop" to his | 5 | | grandchildren and spending time with his beloved pets; and | 6 | | WHEREAS, Daniel Kosiba was preceded in death by by his | 7 | | parents, Josephine and Elmer, and his grandson Thomas Kosiba; | 8 | | and | 9 | | WHEREAS, Daniel Kosiba is survived by his wife, Carolyn; | 10 | | his siblings, Christine (Keith) VanderVelde, Glenn (Christine) | 11 | | Kosiba, Joanne (Nick) Abatecola, and Lucy (Al) Livingston; his | 12 | | children, Daniel John (Plamena), Caroline (Christopher) | 13 | | Macchitelli, and Timothy (Cari) Kosiba; his grandchildren, | 14 | | Annie, Jack, Celine, Ryan, and Connor; and many beloved | 15 | | cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends; therefore, be it | 16 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | 17 | | HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | 18 | | we mourn the passing of Daniel Kosiba and extend our sincere | 19 | | condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved | 20 | | him; and be it further | 21 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
