| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of
Bill | 4 | | Wilson of West Frankfort, who passed away on October 30, 2011; | 5 | | and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Bill Wilson was a graduate of Benton High School; | 7 | | and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Bill Wilson began his career at the Franklin | 9 | | Sheriff's Department in 1972 and served as a deputy and chief | 10 | | deputy before his election as sheriff in 1990; he retired at | 11 | | the end of his term in 2010 after almost 3 decades of dedicated | 12 | | service; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Bill Wilson served as president of the Illinois | 14 | | Sheriffs' Association for one term; he was also an ISA | 15 | | executive board member since 1997, becoming the group's | 16 | | president in 2008; and
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Bill Wilson was a tireless worker in building a | 18 | | juvenile detention center in Franklin County, which now serves | 19 | | 26 southern Illinois counties; he also initiated a Drug Abuse | 20 | | Resistance Education program to teach county children about | 21 | | living drug-free; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Bill Wilson was known for his culinary skills and | 2 | | cooked frequently for his department, for sheriffs' | 3 | | association events, and at Franklin County functions; and
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Bill Wilson is survived by his wife, Cathy; his | 5 | | daughter, Danalyn, and her husband, Dennis West; his grandsons, | 6 | | Harley and Evan West;
his sisters, Sally and her husband, Duane | 7 | | Revis, and Nancy Cockrum; therefore, be it | 8 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | 9 | | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | 10 | | we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of | 11 | | Bill Wilson; and be it further
| 12 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 13 | | presented to the family of Bill Wilson as an expression of our | 14 | | sympathy.
