| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Dennis Murphy of Willow Springs, who | 4 | | passed away on June 12, 2013; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Dennis Murphy was born in 1943 in Elkhart, | 6 | | Indiana, to Wilbur and Caroljean Murphy; he graduated from | 7 | | Elkhart High School in 1961 and received his Bachelor of | 8 | | Science in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University in | 9 | | West Lafayette, Indiana; he earned his Master's Degree in | 10 | | Business Administration from Northwestern University in | 11 | | Evanston; and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Dennis Murphy spent most of his business career as | 13 | | the senior staff accountant for Commonwealth Edison, Chicago; | 14 | | during his retirement years, he tutored students and was a | 15 | | substitute teacher at The Avery Coonley School for the Gifted | 16 | | in Downers Grove and at Lyons Township High School in La | 17 | | Grange; and
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Dennis Murphy had a passion for American history | 19 | | and would accompany his wife and her Avery Coonley | 20 | | seventh-grade students on their annual trip to Washington, | 21 | | D.C.; he was an avid golfer and served on the Board of | 22 | | Directors of Ruth Lake Country Club and The Fairway Club in |

| 1 | | Willow Springs; and | 2 | | WHEREAS, Dennis Murphy was a fan of Purdue and Duke | 3 | | basketball; he also enjoyed fishing, the outdoors, and taking | 4 | | care of others; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Dennis Murphy was preceded in death by his parents | 6 | | and by his mother and father-in-law, Bernice and Jack Lask; and
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Dennis Murphy is survived by his wife of 44 years, | 8 | | Deborah (nee Lask); his daughters, Kristin Murphy and Laura | 9 | | (James) Ferri; his grandchildren, Samuel, Thomas, and Lucy | 10 | | Ferri; and his sister-in-law, Barbara (Don) Neimann; | 11 | | therefore, be it
| 12 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL | 13 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 14 | | Dennis Murphy, and extend our sincere condolences to his | 15 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 16 | | further
