| HOUSE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the | 3 |
| State of Illinois learned with sadness of the death in | 4 |
| Afghanistan of U.S. Navy Lt. Michael M. McGreevy Jr. of | 5 |
| Portville, New York, formerly of Mount Olive and Naperville, on | 6 |
| June 28, 2005; and
| 7 |
| WHEREAS, As a child, Lt. McGreevy lived in Naperville; in | 8 |
| ninth grade, he moved to New Jersey with his mother, then to | 9 |
| Portville, New York; he spent some of his teenage years in | 10 |
| Mount Olive as well; and
| 11 |
| WHEREAS, He was a member of the U.S. Navy's SEAL Team 10 | 12 |
| based in Virginia Beach, Virginia; he attended the U.S. Naval | 13 |
| Academy at Annapolis, Maryland, graduating in 1997, second in | 14 |
| his class; two years later, he made it through Army Ranger | 15 |
| school and the U.S. Navy accepted him into the SEALS, where he | 16 |
| graduated first in his class; and
| 17 |
| WHEREAS, He is remembered as an outstanding student and | 18 |
| athlete at his high school; he was known to protect other | 19 |
| students from bullies and watch out for students who did not | 20 |
| excel; he always loved a challenge; and
| 21 |
| WHEREAS, The passing of Lt. McGreevy has been deeply felt | 22 |
| by many, especially his wife, Laura; his daughter, Molly; his | 23 |
| mother, Patricia Mackin; and his father, Michael McGreevy; | 24 |
| therefore, be it

| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | 26 |
| NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | 27 |
| we mourn the passing of Lt. Michael M. McGreevy Jr., and we | 28 |
| extend our deepest sympathy to his family, friends, and all who | 29 |
| knew and loved him; and be it further |

| RESOLVED, That we honor the memory of Lt. McGreevy and his | 2 |
| willingness to serve his country, which led to him making the | 3 |
| ultimate sacrifice; and be it further
| 4 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 5 |
| presented to his family as an expression of our sincerest | 6 |
| condolences.
