| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Joseph P. Spears of Hanna City, who | 4 | | passed away on October 8, 2013; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Joseph Spears was born on February 20, 1953 in | 6 | | Peoria to Joseph W. and Theresa I. (nee Fitzpatrick) Spears; he | 7 | | married Sue Kowalski on August 16, 1986 in Peoria; and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Joseph Spears was a patrolman for the Peoria | 9 | | Police Department for over 35 years, retiring in 2012; after | 10 | | retirement, he worked for Sherwin-Williams and Green Finish | 11 | | Line Ford; and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Joseph Spears coached and taught at Owens Center | 13 | | Ice Rink for over 10 years and was coordinator for the Peoria | 14 | | Mini-Mites Youth Hockey Program; he enjoyed watching the | 15 | | Chicago Blackhawks, woodworking, being outdoors, riding his | 16 | | Harley-Davidson motorcycle, and being with his family; and
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Joseph Spears was preceded in death by his parents | 18 | | and his sister-in-law, Regina Spears; and
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Joseph Spears is survived by his wife, Sue; his | 20 | | daughters, Becky (David) Burke and Devan Spears; his son, Joey |

| 1 | | Spears; his granddaughter, Kennedy Burke; his brothers, Jim | 2 | | Spears, Bill (Deb) Spears, Bob Spears, Mike (Julie) Spears, Pat | 3 | | (Cindy) Spears, and Tom (Angie) Spears; and 35 nieces and | 4 | | nephews; therefore, be it
| 5 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL | 6 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 7 | | Joseph P. Spears, and extend our sincere condolences to his | 8 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 9 | | further
| 10 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 11 | | presented to the family of Joseph Spears as an expression of | 12 | | our deepest sympathy.
