| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of William Joseph Lucas of Rock Island, who | 4 | | passed away on August 9, 2019; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, William Lucas was born in Moline to Willis and | 6 | | Mary Lucas on August 1, 1929; he graduated from Rock Island | 7 | | High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War; | 8 | | he married Rita Arlene Gaudet in Seymour, Connecticut on June | 9 | | 6, 1953; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, William Lucas worked as a mechanical engineer for | 11 | | M. A. Ford Mfg. for over 30 years; and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, William Lucas was involved in many organizations; | 13 | | he associated himself with organizations for the purpose of | 14 | | supporting a culture of life, personal liberty, and the common | 15 | | good of society; and
| 16 | | WHEREAS, William Lucas was preceded in death by his wife, | 17 | | Rita; his parents; his brother, Robert; his son, David; his | 18 | | sister-in-law, Gloria Gaudet; and his brother-in-law, Roger | 19 | | Gaudet Sr.; and
| 20 | | WHEREAS, William Lucas is survived by his sons, Michael, |

| 1 | | Edward (Ann), and Joseph Lucas; seven grandchildren; two | 2 | | great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; his | 3 | | brother-in-law, Norman Gaudet; his special niece and | 4 | | goddaughter, Annette Ochoa; and numerous nieces, nephews, and | 5 | | additional family; therefore, be it
| 6 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | 7 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 8 | | William Joseph Lucas and extend our sincere condolences to his | 9 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 10 | | further
| 11 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 12 | | presented to the family of William Lucas as an expression of | 13 | | our deepest sympathy.
