| SENATE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 |
| learn of the death of
Allen J. Nelson Jr., formerly of Lake | 4 |
| Bluff, who passed away on December 9, 2007; and
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Allen J. Nelson Jr. was born on March 28, 1934 in | 6 |
| Chicago; his parents were Allen J. Sr. and Martha E. (Popp) | 7 |
| Nelson; and
| 8 |
| WHEREAS, Allen J. Nelson Jr. was a graduate of Bradley | 9 |
| University in Peoria and Loyola University in Chicago; and
| 10 |
| WHEREAS, Allen J. Nelson Jr. served in the United States | 11 |
| Navy from 1956 to 1994 in both active and reserve service; at | 12 |
| the time of his retirement, he held the rank of commander; and
| 13 |
| WHEREAS, Allen J. Nelson Jr. spent most of his professional | 14 |
| career working as a Systems Analyst; he was employed by the | 15 |
| State of Illinois as a student loans compliance auditor prior | 16 |
| to his retirement in 1998; and
| 17 |
| WHEREAS, While residing in Lake Bluff, Allen J. Nelson Jr. | 18 |
| was an active member of St. Mary's Parish (Lake Forest), the | 19 |
| Knights of Columbus, and the Lake Forest/Lake Bluff Kiwanis | 20 |
| Club; and |

| WHEREAS, Allen J. Nelson Jr. was preceded in death by his | 2 |
| wife, Janice Ann (Kirklighter) and his son, Paul; and | 3 |
| WHEREAS, Allen J. Nelson Jr. is survived by his son, Allen | 4 |
| J. Nelson III; his daughter, Patricia A. Nelson; his | 5 |
| granddaughters, Ashley and Alex Nelson; and his sister, Janice | 6 |
| (John) Schnobrich; therefore, be it
| 7 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL | 8 |
| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | 9 |
| his family and friends, the passing of Allen J. Nelson Jr.; and | 10 |
| be it further
| 11 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 12 |
| presented to the family of Allen J. Nelson Jr. as an expression | 13 |
| of our sympathy.
