| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Raymond Eugene Penn of Collinsville, who | 4 | | passed away on February 24, 2012; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, He was born April 18, 1940, in Poplar Bluff, | 6 | | Missouri; and
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Penn retired as a foreman in 1992 from Granite | 8 | | City Steel after many years of dedicated service in the hot | 9 | | strip department; he was a devoted minister, serving at the | 10 | | Greenville Church of Christ for 5 years, and as the assistant | 11 | | minister at the Maplewood Church of Christ in Cahokia; he had | 12 | | also served as a teacher at the Christian Academy of Greater | 13 | | St. Louis and as a teacher's assistant in the Edwardsville | 14 | | School District; and
| 15 | | WHEREAS, He was the past president of Camp Neotez; he had | 16 | | also served as a camp director and teacher; he was a 32nd | 17 | | Degree Mason and was past master of the Granite City Lodge No. | 18 | | 877 and a member of Ainad Shriner's Temple; and
| 19 | | WHEREAS, He will be remembered for the love and special | 20 | | times shared with his family and friends; and |

| 1 | | WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his father, Paul V. | 2 | | Penn; and his sister, Dorothy Penn; and
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Raymond Penn is survived by his wife, Lucille, nee | 4 | | Alfaro, Penn, whom he married on January 13, 1962, in Alton; | 5 | | his children, Bruce and Ruth Anne Hawkins, Nancy and David | 6 | | Baker, Catrenia and Todd Hayes, and Lorri and Dennis Shup; his | 7 | | grandchildren, Joseph, Laurel, Roma, Carmen, Shyli, William, | 8 | | Emily, Benjamin, and Grant; his great-grandchildren, Timothy, | 9 | | Sydney, Samuel, Lordis, and Michael; his brothers, Harold Penn | 10 | | and Terry Penn; and other extended family and friends; | 11 | | therefore, be it
| 12 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL | 13 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | 14 | | his family and friends, the passing of Raymond Penn; and be it | 15 | | further
| 16 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 17 | | presented to the family of Raymond Penn as a symbol of our | 18 | | sincere sympathy.
