| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 | | Representatives are pleased to congratulate Nancy Rodkin | 4 | | Rotering on the occasion of her 50th birthday; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Nancy Rotering grew up in Highland Park and | 6 | | attended Braeside School, Edgewood School, and Highland Park | 7 | | High School; she subsequently earned her bachelor's degree in | 8 | | economics at Stanford University, her MBA at Northwestern | 9 | | University, and her law degree at the University of Chicago; | 10 | | and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Nancy Rotering is an attorney and businesswoman; | 12 | | she began her career as a member of the Treasurer's staff at | 13 | | General Motors; she subsequently joined McDermott, Will, and | 14 | | Emery as an attorney working on health care matters; in 2008, | 15 | | she shifted her focus to government work and served as a | 16 | | Legislative Aide to Illinois State Representative Karen May; | 17 | | and
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Nancy Rotering's dedication to public service | 19 | | began in 2005, when the Mayor appointed her as a member of the | 20 | | Environmental Commission; in 2006, she was appointed as a | 21 | | member of the Plan Commission; she was also a member of the | 22 | | advisory board for the Park District of Highland Park's |

| 1 | | lakefront activities and Heller Nature Center, and served as | 2 | | Braeside School PTO Co-President; and
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Nancy Rotering was elected to serve as Mayor of | 4 | | the City of Highland Park in April of 2011; prior to that, she | 5 | | served as Highland Park City Councilman from 2009 to 2011, | 6 | | where she served as the Liaison to the City's Design Review, | 7 | | Traffic, and Historic Preservation Commissions; and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Nancy Rotering is an ex-officio board member of | 9 | | the Community Family Center and was awarded the 2006 Robert | 10 | | Barnard Pillar Award by the Highland Park Human Relations | 11 | | Commission for her work as the founder of the Environmental | 12 | | Education Program (EEP) for North Shore District 112 Schools | 13 | | and on behalf of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation; and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Nancy Rotering is an active member of the Highland | 15 | | Park/Highwood Rotary, the Ravinia Festival Women's Board and | 16 | | Annual Fund Committee, the Children's Memorial Foundation | 17 | | Board of Directors, the Joint Action Committee for Political | 18 | | Affairs (JACPAC), Hadassah, and the Highland Park/Highwood | 19 | | League of Women Voters; and | 20 | | WHEREAS, Nancy Rotering and her husband, Rob, live in | 21 | | Highland Park with their four sons, Charlie, Jack, Andy, and | 22 | | Pete; therefore, be it

| 1 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | 2 | | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | 3 | | we congratulate Nancy Rodkin Rotering on the occasion of her | 4 | | 50th birthday and wish her continued success and happiness in | 5 | | the future; and be it further
