| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Michael Patrick Mullen, Sr., who passed | 4 | | away on September 17, 2013; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Michael Mullen, Sr. was born on June 7, 1942 in | 6 | | Chicago; and
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Michael Mullen, Sr. started his career as a | 8 | | Certified Public Accountant in 1965; he then received his Juris | 9 | | Doctor from DePaul University in Chicago and began working as a | 10 | | Assistant United States Attorney in the Northern District of | 11 | | Illinois as part of Governor Jim Thompson's "Kiddie Corps", a | 12 | | group of young attorneys who helped clean up corruption in the | 13 | | City of Chicago in the early 1970s; and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Michael Mullen, Sr. practiced law for over 40 | 15 | | years and was always available to give advice to those in need; | 16 | | and
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Michael Mullen, Sr. was a diehard Chicago Cubs, | 18 | | Bears, and Blackhawks fan; he enjoyed powerboats, running, | 19 | | racquetball, and skiing and would take the family on ski trips | 20 | | to Colorado; he had a passion for music and dancing and could | 21 | | be seen hitting the town in one of his colorful Zoot Suits; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Michael Mullen, Sr. was preceded in death by his | 2 | | brother-in-law, Bob; and | 3 | | WHEREAS, Michael Mullen, Sr. is survived by his wife, | 4 | | Danusia; his 3 sons; his daughter, Marzenka (Chris); his | 5 | | granddaughter, Evelyn: his sons from his former wife Mary, | 6 | | Michael, Daniel, Timothy, Matthew (Michelle), and Edward; his | 7 | | brothers, William and Daniel; his sisters, Kathleen, Maureen, | 8 | | and Judi; and his grandchildren, Alexia, Brakell, Michael, | 9 | | Matthew, Abby, James, John, William, Mack, and Guy; therefore, | 10 | | be it
| 11 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL | 12 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 13 | | Michael Patrick Mullen, Sr., and extend our sincere condolences | 14 | | to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be | 15 | | it further
| 16 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 17 | | presented to the family of Michael Mullen, Sr. as an expression | 18 | | of our deepest sympathy.
