| 2 | | WHEREAS, On March 17, 2022, during the annual celebration | 3 | | of the Feast of Saint Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland, | 4 | | Irish Americans join with men, women, and children of all | 5 | | other ethnic origins who, for one day, become Irish and | 6 | | celebrate St. Patrick and love of Ireland; and
| 7 | | WHEREAS, On Saint Patrick's Day, all who wear the green | 8 | | live for a day in the spirit of
Saints Patrick, Bridget, and | 9 | | Columcille whose 1500th anniversary was in the last year; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Irish immigrants in the United States helped form | 11 | | the cultural foundation of the nation, and those of Irish | 12 | | lineage today proudly sing support for Ireland; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, With leadership in all 50 states, the American | 14 | | Irish State Legislators Caucus was established with the aim of | 15 | | fostering and strengthening the longstanding relationship that | 16 | | exists between the United States of America and Ireland to the | 17 | | mutual benefit of both countries; and
| 18 | | WHEREAS, The songs of Ireland are the tragic songs of | 19 | | love, joyous songs of
battle, nostalgic reveries of the | 20 | | sorrows and the glories that are the Emerald Isle, the | 21 | | lamentations of life's myriad travails, and odes to joy and |

| 2 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | 3 | | HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | 4 | | we commemorate the celebration of the Feast of St. Patrick, | 5 | | the Patron Saint of Ireland; and be it further
| 6 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 7 | | presented to the Chair of the Senate of Ireland, Senator Mark | 8 | | Daly, and the National Co-Chairs of the American Irish State | 9 | | Legislators Caucus, Speaker Robin Vos of Wisconsin, | 10 | | Assemblywoman Carol Murphy of New Jersey, Representative | 11 | | Killian Timoney of Kentucky, Representative Fran Hurley of | 12 | | Illinois, Senator Shannon O'Brien of Montana, and Senator Mia | 13 | | Costello of Alaska.
