| HOUSE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 |
| Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Lowell | 4 |
| Max Daugherty of Charleston, who passed away on September 28, | 5 |
| 2009; and
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, Lowell Max Daugherty was born in Morgan Township, | 7 |
| in Coles County on June 4, 1934, a son of Oather and Pauline | 8 |
| (Bradford) Daugherty; he married Ardis Marcene Martinson in | 9 |
| Fort Belvoir, Virginia on June 12, 1958; and
| 10 |
| WHEREAS, He founded Max Daugherty Construction, a | 11 |
| successful company that specialized in concrete and masonry | 12 |
| work forty-one years ago; following his retirement in 2008 and | 13 |
| until his passing, he continued to serve as Charleston Township | 14 |
| Supervisor, a position he held for seven years; earlier he was | 15 |
| employed by U.S.I. in Tuscola; and
| 16 |
| WHEREAS, He was a proud military veteran, serving with the | 17 |
| United States Army from 1956 to 1958; he enjoyed televised | 18 |
| football and baseball, supporting local youth teams, listening | 19 |
| to blue grass and gospel music, having coffee with friends, | 20 |
| attending auctions, and making an occasional trip to a | 21 |
| riverboat casino; and

| WHEREAS, He was a family man; he truly enjoyed being in | 2 |
| their presence as evidenced by his attendance at his children's | 3 |
| and grandchildren's activities; he will be remembered by many | 4 |
| for his low-key manner, his unquestionable integrity, his | 5 |
| kindness, and his willingness to always lend a helping hand to | 6 |
| others, values that, in turn, blessed him with an abundance of | 7 |
| friends; and | 8 |
| WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; | 9 |
| his son-in-law, Hank Thiele; and his sister, Billie Walters; | 10 |
| and
| 11 |
| WHEREAS, He is survived by his children, Linda Whitley and | 12 |
| her husband, Jeff, Sandi Thiele, Peg Daugherty, and Matt | 13 |
| Daugherty and his wife, Melissa, and Mark Daugherty and his | 14 |
| wife, Kathy; his grandchildren, Nick Whitley and Colton | 15 |
| Whitley, Rachel Daugherty, Jenna Daugherty, Shannon Daugherty, | 16 |
| and Kevin Daugherty, Dalton Wagner, Mason Daugherty, and Peyton | 17 |
| Daugherty; his sisters, Sue McKinney, Carol Smith, Judy | 18 |
| Winnett, and Kathy Daugherty; his brother, Tom Daugherty and | 19 |
| his wife, Julie; and several nieces and nephews; therefore, be | 20 |
| it

| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | 22 |
| NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | 23 |
| mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Lowell |
