| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | 3 | | to learn of the death of Lieutenant Colonel Marvin W. Lassen, | 4 | | U.S. Army (Ret) of Moline, who passed away on November 1, 2021; | 5 | | and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Marvin Lassen was born to Roy and Lillie (Myrick) | 7 | | Lassen in Doniphan, Missouri on October 30, 1927; he married | 8 | | Bertha Dowd in Poplar Bluff, Missouri on June 11, 1955; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Marvin Lassen served in the U.S. Army; he retired | 10 | | after 25 years of service in 1971; after retiring, he worked at | 11 | | the Rock Island Arsenal for 20 years and retired as Director of | 12 | | Communications; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Marvin Lassen was a member of Riverside United | 14 | | Methodist Church in Moline, the Rock Island Arsenal Golf Club, | 15 | | the Quail Village Golf Club in Naples, Florida, and the | 16 | | Kiwanis Club of Moline; he was an avid golfer, and he was proud | 17 | | to make a hole-in-one at the age of 83; and
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Marvin Lassen was a loving husband, father, | 19 | | grandfather, and friend; and
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Marvin Lassen was preceded in death by his |

| 1 | | parents; his granddaughter, Elise Lassen Dondanville; and his | 2 | | brothers, Raymond Lassen and Luin Lassen; and
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Marvin Lassen is survived by his wife of over 66 | 4 | | years, Bertha; his daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley (Ronald) | 5 | | Gusta and Deborah (Neil Ealy) Lassen-Ealy; his grandchildren, | 6 | | Aaron Michael Gusta, Eva (Matt) Schmid, and Louis "Alex" | 7 | | (Jade) Dondanville; his great-grandson, Bennett Schmid; and | 8 | | his extended family, Jeff (Leigh) Gusta and their children, | 9 | | Austin (Callie) Gusta and Aidan Gusta, James (Jennifer) Ealy | 10 | | and their children, Alyssa and Zander, and Tara (Tiffany) Ealy | 11 | | and their children, Bentley and Avery; therefore, be it
| 12 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | 13 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 14 | | Lieutenant Colonel Marvin W. Lassen U.S. Army (Ret) and extend | 15 | | our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who | 16 | | knew and loved him; and be it further
| 17 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 18 | | presented to the family of Marvin Lassen as an expression of | 19 | | our deepest sympathy.
