Amends the Children's Advocacy Center Act. Provides that a tax referendum may be submitted to county electors to operate and maintain a Children's Advocacy Center that is already established in that county. Provides that other referenda may be for the purpose of operating (as well as establishing and maintaining) a Children's Advocacy Center.

| AN ACT concerning local government.
|

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 |
| represented in the General Assembly:
|

| Section 5. The Children's Advocacy Center Act is amended by |
5 |
| changing Section 5 as follows:
|

| (55 ILCS 80/5) (from Ch. 23, par. 1805)

| Sec. 5. Referendum.
|
8 |
| (a) Whenever a petition signed by 1% of the
electors who |
9 |
| voted in the last general election in any county is presented
|
10 |
| to the county board requesting the submission of the |
11 |
| proposition whether an
annual tax of not to exceed .004% of the |
12 |
| value, as equalized or assessed by
the Department of Revenue, |
13 |
| of all taxable property in the county shall be
levied for the |
14 |
| purpose of establishing , operating, and maintaining , or |
15 |
| operating and maintaining, a Children's
Advocacy Center, the |
16 |
| county board shall adopt a resolution for the
submission of the |
17 |
| proposition to the electors at the next regular election
held |
18 |
| in the county in accordance with the general election law.
|
19 |
| (b) Upon the adoption and certification of the resolution, |
20 |
| the
proposition shall be submitted at the next regular election |
21 |
| held in the
county. The proposition shall be in substantially |
22 |
| the following form:
|
23 |
| "Shall an annual tax of not more than ....... per
|
24 |
| cent be levied on the value of all taxable property in
|
25 |
| ............ County (this tax will amount to an annual |
26 |
| increase of
approximately ..... on a home with a market |
27 |
| value of $100,000) for the
purpose of establishing , |
28 |
| operating, and maintaining (or, operating and |
29 |
| maintaining)
a Children's Advocacy Center to |

| coordinate the investigation,
prosecution, and |

| treatment referral of child sexual abuse in ..... |

| County?".
